Dept. dispatch console located in Hillsville, VA. The top shelf
contains the Tone Termination cards. Kenwood's TK-760 and TK-780
series radios are used as control stations to link the console to the
county's repeater system. The Power supply (the black box below
the radios) is a Duracomm 90 amp, fully redundant, with amp and
voltage meters as well as failure indication lights. The supply
is used to power the radios and tone termination cards. Behind
the blank panel is the punch down blocks for connections between the
control stations and the E-911 console's PC.
A Fiber Optic T1 cable is used to link the Carroll Sheriff
Dept. console to the Twin County E-911 center located in Galax, a 15
mile separation distance between dispatch centers.
